FAQ

Can getting an honorary degree really be that easy?

Here are a few of the most frequently asked questions we receive. If you don’t see a question that’s on your mind, please reach out to us at any time. We’re here to help.

After payment, the university issues the degree within 7 days. We will send you an email with a scanned copy of the degree for your records. Then, we send the original degree to the respective law firm, agency, or embassy for legalization processing. This takes up to 10 weeks. Then the documents are sent by registered mail. In total, you should expect to receive your documents in 10-12 weeks.
We will always do what we can to make the process as fast as possible, and we will keep you updated at every step along the way.

No. Applicants must have the appropriate knowledge and experience in the field of the degree they would like to acquire. Applicants must be 18+ years old and have graduated high school (or equivalent). Your Pathway Consultant can give you more information.

We are currently working with 4 different universities. Therefore, the names of the universities (as well as the law firms and agencies we work with) are confidential. The reasons for this are:

  1. The universities have requested we do not share their names, as this service that they provide to us may affect the value of the degree.

  2. We offer many options for majors and minors. However, not all universities offer all programs. Therefore, which university we will work with for your degree will depend on this and other factors.

  3. Processing time and the legalization services required also play a role in which university we will work with for your degree. This flexibility allows us to give you the best and fastest service possible.

If you still have questions on this matter, please contact your Pathway Consultant.

The universities we work with are legal, registered schools that have “-edu.us” websites and physical campuses.*
These universities have administration centers that offer free verification services so that you can independently verify the validity of your degree.** Legally, verification requests must be by email or post and in writing (not by phone or fax). Verification requests must be accompanied by the graduate’s verification letter (which will be provided with your degree). The institutions are required to respond to a valid verification request within 5 days of receipt.

* Many of the campuses have been affected by COVID 19, and most programs offered by these universities are now online.

** An administration center may not always acknowledge association with Pathway Career Services or its associates.

Different universities have different accreditation institutions. There are thousands of these accreditation institutions. Additionally, there are many different types of accreditations. The highest and most internationally recognized is called “Regional Accreditation”.

The universities we work with do not have regional accreditation.

What does this mean for you?

  • Some countries (like the United States and Canada) require public (government) school teachers to have a teaching certificate. To receive this certificate, in most cases, a degree with regional accreditation is required.
  • If you are looking to pursue a higher degree (such as a Master’s or PhD), many universities require the student’s previous degree to be from a regionally accredited university.

If you feel that you require a degree with specific accreditation, make sure you talk with a Pathway Consultant before applying.
Note: Applicants requiring a degree for online work or receiving work in Asia usually do not need a regionally accredited degree.

After the document processing is complete, it will be mailed to you via registered mail which must be signed for by the recipient that you specify. It is impossible for a client to claim that their degree was never delivered.

Confidentiality for all parties is guaranteed in 3 ways:

  1. The universities are contractually bound not to advertise these “honorary degree programs”. This includes online, in social media, television, etc. They will never reveal their relationship with Pathway Career Services or their associates.
  2. Pathway Career Services will not reveal the identity of the institutions we represent or the contractors we work with.
  3. On making this purchase, you agree to not reveal the link between our company and the name of the university from which your degree is issued.

Yes, but with conditions. Please contact your Pathway Consultant for more information.

No. This degree is awarded in recognition of your work experience and/or training you have received from other institutions. Therefore, you can receive your degree without taking any additional classes or exams.

An Apostille is a form of authentication issued to documents for use in countries that participate in the Hague Convention of 1961. Basically, an apostille confirms that your degree is valid and legally recognized in the United States. Therefore, any other country that participates in the Hague Convention will also recognize this as a valid and legal document.

Members of the Hague Convention can be found here:
https://www.hcch.net/en/instruments/conventions/status-table/?cid=41

If you are from the United States and do not plan on working abroad, although an Apostille is not necessary, it can still give your potential employer confirmation that the degree you are holding is legally recognized.

This depends on the issuer. If the apostille is issued by the Secretary of State, an Apostille can be verified by contacting the Secretary of State or the Notary Public from which it was issued: https://www.hcch.net/en/states/authorities/details3/?aid=353

If the apostille was issued by a notary public, their office may be contacted for verification.

Some countries that are not members of the Hague Convention require documents to be verified by their embassy in the country which issues the documents. The requirements for Embassy Legalization vary from country to country. But in most cases, an embassy will require: 1) An original copy of the document to be legalized 2) A stamp or seal from a notary public 3) A certificate from the Secretary of State (Department of State) verifying the original document is valid and legal.

The Embassy will then add their own certificate or stamp, verifying that the original document (like a degree) is legal

The certificate or stamp issued by the embassy will often have a serial number. There are several ways that this can be verified: 1) With the embassy directly 2) through an app (such as the China Consular Affairs app) 3) at the immigration department
